Is Life Better at Brunch?

Is Life Better at Brunch?
The term "Brunch" was coined in 1896 in England, to describe a Sunday meal that started a little later in the morning for the "Saturday night carousers". We have all had that Sunday when getting up early for church or anything else is out of the question. Judging by the date of origin it's not new either. Taken up as a "thing" in the 1930's in the United States, brunch has become one of those meals when you can surely get the whole family involved or gather a group of friends. It's no longer a meal for snobs as was once thought.

As written by William Grimes, "At Brunch, The More Bizarre The Better" New York Times, 1998  " Instead of England's early Sunday dinner, a postchurch ordeal of heavy meats and savory pies, why not a new meal, served around noon, that starts with tea or coffee, marmalade and other breakfast fixtures before moving along to the heavier fare? By eliminating the need to get up early on Sunday, brunch would make life brighter for Saturday-night carousers. It would promote human happiness in other ways as well. "Brunch is cheerful, sociable and inciting." Beringer wrote. "It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week."

So clearly Brunch is a happy time. We at Alor Cafe can attest to this. Lots of tired hung over people come and just need that first cup of coffee to get things rolling. Then there are the families with little kids who get to be a little naughty and get a dessert crepe instead of the usual fair just because it's Sunday Brunch. The cool thing about Brunch is just about any food is up for grabs. It really is a very personal choice.

To drink or not to drink?
One the Brunch perks is drinking. Whether your choice is a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary, Brunch seems to be the perfect time for a cocktail. If you went out the night beofr ethe a little hair of the dog might exactly what you need. We make alot of drinks at Alor Cafe. Or atleast we did. When you get a new owner , you need a new liquor license with his name on it. So... we will wait for a new one. While this may be bad news for some of you, seems the food speaks for itself and our Sunday brunch is still a very lively affair.

We serve brunch weekdays from 9am-noon, weekends from 9am-3pm. Stop by and see us!
